Signing up for the Xunlai house tournament.
Very VERY stupid question I apologize.
I was about to register to particapate in the guessing part of the house tournament, and as I was filling out the form, there was "Account name" and "E-mail adress slots"
Yeah that got me. Aren't they essentially the same? >.< What goes in those 2 differetnt bars? I didn't know we had account names, I thought we just had an e-mail adress servering as our account name.
And if we did, well I had changed my email adress ahwile ago, so what goes where!

This is a different registration than for your account. Put a name in name, then the email address you want to use for this and the password.
ALthough so far I haven't received the email message so I can confirm the registration, so I can't make my choices.

I must confess, I'm a little confused about this too. I suspect I've entered the wrong information in mine, because under "Account Name" I put in my Guild Wars account (aka, my email). However, a few other people have suggested it needs to be one of your character name.
Also, I had to click the "resend confirmation email" button, before I could activate my sign in. Saddly though, there doesnt appear to be a way to edit (or even view) your details.

That's the problem though, I don't think it would actually notice, if you put gibberish as your name, it would probably still let you finish registration, so long as you confirm your email. The problem is, that on the sign up screen, it clearly states that if your name is wrong, you won't be able to get your prizes. :/

I would assume it's character name, because for that side note would they just give the item to a random character in that account? (if you were to put in your email login). If you give your character name, they would send the item directly to your characters inventory? Or perhaps if it is your email login, send it to your storage?! OH THE CONFUSION! T-T

I'm not registering an account until someone confirms what Account name is.

Since it says GW account name, I suppose it's the email you use to login to the game itself. But then there's another email field... strange.

From the other thread.
The account name is your LOGIN EMAIL when you sign in on GW!
The other email is for Privacy reasons. so you should put another email address.
Since logging into the GW website to poll your votes on the tournament, there is no SECURE SETTING (a.k.a. the little lock icon showing you that it's a secure website) it lessens the chance for you to get hacked. AND it also gives gw your account to know where to send any items you may have won.

Problem solved. http://10minutemail.com/10MinuteMail/index.html
Unless of course you end up needing it longer than 10 mins.

Heh. I wasn't 'clued' in and made up a name for 'Game Account name' and I used a diff email in the email field than the one I used to make my GW account so luckily I was able to register again, doing it correctly this time....

That's exactly what I did ad I got my email right away. I doubt I'll win anything tho since I don't PvP and have no idea what the better guilds are and such. heh.

Not well thought out on their part. It makes no sense to me, the ? mark doesnt work next to the field, and I'm not signing up.

I AM SO CONFUSED
I have read stuff on this forever, and i keep seeing different answers!!!!
Heres what i would assume, since it says the 'guild wars game account name' & when you login to guild wars it says 'Account name' - that it what you should put, and then the email adress slot is for where you want the conformation email to be sent, since some people make a certain email adress for guild wars that they don't use for anything else.
something so simple, yet so confusing

Ok, then I don't get it. It has a spot for your email, so you can be notified, but then it says on the game name part that misspelled accounts names will result in undeliverable prizes. If you put your email address, how can that not be right? They need to be a little clearer with their instructions.
